Jane getting in a run to the mountain just weeks after delivering number two!
Part way up the trail to the top of West Peak.
Looking at the mountain and the beautiful views surrounding us.
Nothing but flat walking to get to the steep talus.
 The steep talus!
Eric, Jane and I at the top and psyched! Why aren't you here??
Heading down to the car on a perfect day.

Feb. Weekend in GJ

At the end of the weekend, Jane and I went on a run on the beautiful afternoon along the Colorado River. It was cool because all the Canadian geese were flying overhead and heading up north. Even though Jane isn't in tip top shape these days, she can still out run me!
Dave summiting. Touchdown Jesus for all those Notre Dame fans!
Dave doing the final mantel on another chossy tower in GJ. With gear at his feet and loose rock above he overcame the fear, snow and cold and topped it out in style.
Dave pulling the #0 or second smallest camming unit out of the rock before attempting "the levitation traverse". This is a photo from my new route out in these parts.

Turkey Day

Running the Turkey Trot along Cleveland Stadium along Lake Erie. There were about 6000 people running in the rain with us.
Ken, Jane and I at the start of the race. It was cold and wet. After the first block though I was too warm and had to shed my had and open the pit zips on my raincoat. Then, while next to the lake I had to put my hat back on because it was blowing so hard!
An Orchid on Jane's birthday : ) Kinda funny it is sitting on the columbine plate holder.
Jane and I after the race. She took third in her age bracket and I took 48Th. We both ran sub 8 minute miles during the 5 mile race. She beat me by a whole mile!
Prerace Jane. Getting in the zone or was it sleeping from arriving late the night before.
Then we went to my parents to see the rest of my family and do some eating and celebrating!

24 Hours of Boulder

Kicking it at our tent city. Jane, Matt and Mark
Jane starting off the race. This was the first leg of each of our 7 mile loops. Each member of the team had to run at least one 7 mile loop and then we challenged ourselves to do as many as we could to rack up the team total miles!

Mark and Jane so cold that night! On a side note, a lantern and a new fuel bottle will last all night long if you let it burn on medium.
Jane stretching out those legs and hamstrings.
Our motley crew. from left to right, Matt. Eric, me, Mark, and Jane. We went as the Village People.

So, we had the chance to enter a team relay competition this last weekend. We didn't win the race but we did win the costume contest.

April Plans

Jane in a tree! Near my parents house in Ohio. (December 2009)
Well, Jane and I have signed up for our first trail running race of the year. It is called the Desert Rats trail running festival. It is located in Fruita, Colorado and will be on the weekend of April 17th/18th. http://www.geminiadventures.com/DesertRATSfestival.html

Because Jane is an animal when it comes to trail running, she is racing the 25 mile course on Sat and the 10 mile race with me on Sun. It should be a great time. The trail is along side of the Colorado River and it shouldn't be too warm in mid-April.
It's my first race where I haven't tried to finish DAL (dead ass last). In high school, my friends and I would always dress up in cos tums and run charity races to finish last and raise everyone's spirits. This time I will try to compete and not finish last. Since it is my first race, I have no expectations of winning, but I would like to make it the 10 miles and not have any severe knee or back pains. I have been training since the new year and feel good about the distance as I often walk nearly as far to go climbing with a heavy pack.
Get out there and enjoy the almost spring time cause winter is just about over!!!
I am really glad that you have visited my blog.
Thanks and I hope to see and hear from you soon.
